2013 Arunah Hill Days Flyer

August 30 - September 2, 2013

The Arunah Hill Natural Science Center will host a family-oriented weekend of astronomy, star gazing, nature walks, and science education. Several large telescopes will be available for nightly viewing of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, galaxies, star clusters, and other wonders of the Summer Milky Way. Experienced amateur astronomers will conduct nightly constellation orientation talks. Specially filtered solar telescopes will also be used during daylight hours to reveal sunspots and solar prominences.

Saturday afternoon activities for families feature guided nature walks, gps treasure hunts, and the famous Arunah Hill Days rocket building and launch fest. All children will be able to build and launch a model rocket under the supervision of "Ranger Gary" Cislak.

  • A limited number of primitive camp sites are available for a modest fee, on a first come, first serve" basis.

To keep the event enjoyable for all, please observe the following rules:

  • NO alcoholic beverages.
  • NO pets allowed.
  • NO fireworks or pyrotechnic devices.
  • NO light police -- This is a celebration, NOT a solo dark sky session.

  • Cleanup after yourself and remove all the trash you generate.

  • Join Star Watch and get the keys to the mountain.
